Shaky promises

Shaky promises

A Poem by mysticgmekeepr

We make one another
Elaborate, often religious,
Promises of a lifetime of fulfillment.
We deliver each other,
Days and hours of flaws,
Sprawling out in sweats and humanness
The makeup of our personas smudged.
Helplessness and separation
Pepper our joys and intimacies.
Still having vast spaces of emptiness
And unspoken longings.
The bonds of our old promises
Stretch thin,
At the same time a deeper devotion grows,
Wraps around us with knotted threads of loyalty.
Contradictions all!
All of our days;
All of our ways.
