Crush

A Poem by PandaPeaceful

Desire is burning me-
All steps taken remind me of his eyes
I've seen them shining beneath the sun,
I've seen them glaring at mine,
but my mind feels blurry.
It was a matter of flowers and temptations.
It was a matter of forgetting and repairing,
but his voice awakens me,
and I feel it entering me like a knife.
I feel his very presence and I crave it.
Unworthy dreams imagine his touch,
his kiss, his skin.
I need everything for jealousy is burying
mud under my nails.
But I know dreams are meant to be lived
at night,
for his gentle words have already spoken rejection,
and I must leave it be.
I must flee my sight

This is a lovely poem of rejection. Normally I’m sick of heartbreak poems, there are so many that sound similar. But you’ve gone off the charts & penned us something very original & playful & creative. Even tho this is a poem of rejection, most of it feels bouncy & bright with a fun rhythm that makes for compelling reading. I love the uninhibited way you reach for unexpected descriptions: “my mind feels blurry” . . . “a matter of flowers & temptations” . . . “a matter of forgetting & repairing” – this is wild-a*s creativity, my friend. I love the way you bounce between imaginative whimsy & up-close-personal-detailed craving. It gives your poem a varying intensity that adds to the playful pouncing effects (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Unrequited love can lead you down the rabbit hole, to be avoided at all costs.
