A Story by Kathryn Smith

My heart soared.

He asked me out!

But wait...

He only wanted 1 thing.

My body.

To show me off.

Like a doll.

Like an object.

I cried.

I healed.

Moved on.

The next one.

He asked me out!

But he didn't care about me.

He just assumed I'd sleep with him.

I apparently sleep with every other man.

My town thinks I am someone.

Someone I could never be.

I hurt again.

And moved on.

It kept going.

For weeks.

For months.

For years.

They ask me out on a daily basis.

But they never truly care.

About me, myself, and I.

Not about my dreams.

Not about the stars.

My passions.

My fears.

My tears.

They do not care.

Except for him.

The Brit across the sea.

He cared.

And my heart soared.

Because he saw me.

And wanted to know

Trust once broken is quite shattering. It's almost very difficult to trust the guys all over again.

The unfairness. Will it ever change?
Rumours that enhance the men's reputations as 'studs' and conversely ruin a girl's reputation.
It makes it all the more difficult to trust the genuine guys if/when they come along.
