Hug

Hug

A Story by Kathryn Smith

I need a hug.

My country is falling apart.

Bickering about the dumbest things

Like the national anthem

A f*****g idiot for a president

and guns that have killed one too many

With no changes at all

I need a hug

My best friend died

And after she died

I looked for new friends

But the best ones I found

Live across the sea

And have never met me

I need a hug

No friends here

Make time for me

They all have lovers

Or work

Or refuse to sit in a coffee shop

For five small minutes

Because school is more important

Not even for a break

I need a hug

Sometimes I feel like an object

Instead of a human

A woman

I need a hug

Usually I wake up happy

To be here another day

But I have a lump in my throat

It wont go away

I just

 need

a hug.

Is this a story or a poem or just some random thoughts (brush strokes) of a character on canvas?

HUGSSSSSS
It's not a nice way to feel Kat. It's awful in fact but it's widespread - we are afraid too.
The world needs people like you to remind us that it's not just nutters that have a say.

So remorselessly heartfelt. A sad testament to society and to loneliness. Written with such sadness and yet humility Kathryn. Hugs...................................
