Hide Away

Hide Away

A Story by Kathryn Smith

And just like that

The leaves

Are gone

The burst of color

Dead

The warmth

Cold

The trees

Naked

And my body

Frozen

So hide me away

In the middle of sun

In warmth

Under blankets

Hide me away

In your arms

Until spring is here

So I can recover

And be free again

For the wind

Captures me

Decapitates me

Weakens me

Like a slap in the face

I cant breathe

Cant move

Cant smile

Huddle down

And hide me

We've a long way

To go

And I can feel myself

Fading

Hey Kat, beautifully written in your own style.

Many of us feel the same, and yet we also feel sorry for people that don't get to experience the beauty of each season. I think the Kat who can tame and teach two legged, toddling, terrors will make it through the winter :)

Think of the warm glow of yuletide and remember that spring brings new beginnings.

Lovely expression about our fear of surviving winter and indeed life itself. Told in a sad, pleading, forlorn voice.
