Girl Almighty

Girl Almighty

A Story by Kathryn Smith

Let's have another toast to the

 girl  a l m i g h t y

I might have started out small.

Coming into the world weighing one pound, six ounces.

And I might have had someone else's blood pumped into me...

It might have been said that I'd never walk. Never talk.

I might have been dying at one point...

But I survived every odd thrown.

And today?

I am here. And I am mighty.

But back then....

My life was put on the table

My very being was debated upon and talked about.

To keep her or to terminate?

She'll most likely die.

You should terminate.

Terminate.

Abort.

But they kept me.

And recently my mother told me..

That neither set of my Grandparents ever came to visit me.

No one called.

No one seemed to care...

Everyone assumed I would not make it.

No one but my parents had faith.

And everyone didn't know why my parents chose to keep me.

But my parents must have  known...

That this baby girl would pull through.

And their girl almighty would live on.

She'd live on to travel the world.

Give her heart to people.

To children.

Smile.

Dance.

Make the world a brighter and kinder place.

She'd have passions strong.

Dreams bold.

She would dare to be all that other's feared.

And this baby girl would eventually pick up a pen...

And write.

So here's to all who didn't believe in me.

Who wanted to get rid of me.

Here's to all who had no faith.

Here's to the rest of my family...

This is a toast.

To the girl almighty.

Powerful and wonderful use of words. I have three daughters. Each one a hurricane. I'm wise. I know women control the world. Teacher of love and teacher of our children. Thank you dear friend for sharing your amazing words and thoughts.

I like old sayings... This one comes to mind: "The best things come in small packages" :)
