Secret

Secret

A Story by Kathryn Smith

I writhe in my bed

He said it was an ugly place

Full of ugly people

Ugly atmosphere

But when his own ugliness hurt me

I went to the place

and found

beauty

especially in the one who leads

but oh is it agony

keeping this secret

For loving him

Is wrong

I catch his eyes

My coat comes off

Glances

Panic

He avoids me

For all his kind must avoid

Temptation

But we love

From afar

On that day we met

His essence warmed my soul

All was good

All was right

But this secret of mine

Is one I hide
