Serious Thinking

Serious Thinking

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Serious Thinking

So! Archemedes said to Aristotle

What's in that brown paper covered bottle?

You know we heroes aren't supposed to drink,

What on earth will the big guy think?

Oh shut up you self-righteous little shite

I have been awake half my life

Trying to recall

What Newton said about the apple's fall.

I don't even know if it matters

All I know is that I'm f*****g shattered.

All this revered hero stuff is s**t

And I've just about had enough of it.

I only want to have a drink

Now go away and let me think!

although it is not "brown-bagged" my cold beer tasted so much better after reading this. to hell with all this breakthrough bullshit and forward thinking, give it a rest and let me enjoy myself...i have been dying to express this in a write, so, thank you for removing the need from my agenda! i love this, and it is going to my library!

Yes I wrote it in a silly moment. Many, many thanks Divya.
heroes are better when they are realistic...have faults like the rest of us.

i think that is why so many of us like and relate to Oedupus Rex...

he was so flawed, and yet...a good man who saved his people...so we say to ourselves.."i am often rash, often bad tempered, often stubborn, often arrogant...but i am human...afterall, we all belong to that same race.

we need to give ourselves a break. And others need to let us be human...give me that drink.

All the witty banter for a not so meager drink. Great rhyming.

Acceptance is the first key to recovery. Sips my Coca-cola...oh yes...did I fail to mention that I was overwhelmed by all the shotty focking wisdom of it all? :D
