Abandoned

Abandoned

A Poem by John McFadyen

Abandoned

I cried,

but the sky did not

weep with me;

For my sorrow was my own,

to which the world,

nature, man and beast,

were quite oblivious.

I longed so hard

for another soul

to hear my pain;

to be understood

and loved

for who I am,

despite my self doubt.

I yearned to be accepted,

to be held; to be free,

but you and the world

were so engrossed and obsessed

in your own guilt,

that I was abandoned.
