Take

Take

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Take

Your bitterness portrays

a selfish face of stone.

I beg for love

but empty anger is returned.

I crave solace,

but hear only your demands.

I offer all I have

but you have nothing you will trade.

So is our love foretold

worth anything at all,

or can you only take?

It is a bitter, sad piece again. Ahh the romantic soul scorned again.

Perhaps someone's relationship isn't on the best footing. Sounds pretty familiar to me. Excellent writing, John.

It is difficult to be in a relationship when one partner does the giving and the other only knows how to take. You have been to express this sentiment with a clear explanation........."I offer all I have but you have nothing you will trade".....pretty much sums it up! Your free form verse has a powerful message!
