Montya

Montya

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Montya

The Romans stole you

from the heat of Aphrodite.

Copy write broken

you became their muse,

a guiding spirit,

a source of inspiration,

a poet

to protect literature, art and science.

One of nine,

who sprang from the loins of Zeus,

you make me think, reflect.

I ponder in golden silences,

as I write in the shadows

of the space Chaucer invoked.

I am puzzled by the name Montya. 'Shadows of the space' is an intriguing phrase.

Ha, ha, never saw myself as a tutor!
Aphrodite, Zeus, Chaucer.... lovely!
A thinkers' piece for sure.
Reflection is good for the soul my friend, silence speaks louder than sound. Wonderful ponderings...

Thank you Junert
muses... I have mused upon the qualities that make a good muse... I like the bitchy muse that puts you through hellfire and brimstone for one single solitary brilliant line

Once again, your words weave such poetic eloquence of the imagery you captured here, ensnaring the reader into your web of poetry:

One of nine,

who sprang from the loins of Zeus,

you make me think, reflect.

I ponder in golden silences,

as I write in the shadows

of the space Chaucer invoked.

-- utterly breathtaking, thanks for sharing! 100 to 100 - *favorites*

I'm not familiar with Montya as one of the nine...but then again, kimmer is quite often senile :-D This is an extraordinary write, John...just fantastic.

Not a specific muse but an earlier form of the word. Thanks Kimmer

Gotcha. My pleasure, John.
An interesting departure for you John. I know so little of mythology, but I do find it fascinating. This has further piqued my curiosity.
