Poem before Breakfast

Poem before Breakfast

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

A silly moment!

"

Poem before Breakfast

I set myself the task of writing

a poem before breakfast,

then it dawned on me

that I could go hungry

given how I struggle to find

words to bend into shape.

But I need not have worried

as I remembered

that I don’t eat breakfast,

or lunch.

So I have all day to pen

that elusive verse!

I had to go back and make sure I read that right...you don't eat breakfast or lunch? Haven't you ever heard of "food for thought"? I'm a creature of habit...it's a bowl of Cheerios for me...just plain oats and coffee. That's how I roll. I've got to eat something by noon, or else my chair stands the risk of missing a leg!

But I do know what you mean. Sometimes, I get so absorbed with writing that I don't realize its hours past the time that I started. But hey, whatever works for you!

Your verses are food for the soul...at least for me! Thank you, John!

Thank you Richard.
Something to ponder......

Is breakfast relegated to any meal in the morning.....

Or is it the first meal after waking? ( break the fast of sleep)

If it be the latter.....
then you have all day to come up with something
Before you eat breakfast.

I will go weeks without writing anything
Then write three in an hour.

Enjoyed your morning poem

Yes interesting how we all fall into a familiar pattern. Many thanks Trace.
No lunch or breakfast?! Gasp lol I tend to skip breakfast too...words seem to prefer wake time or the dead of night with me, lovely poem xo

Ah thank you Paulo.
Ah, I see something different here. Writing as a substitute for other necessities ...:) I eat my breakfast and write at the same time. I can do lots of things while I write. You men really need to learn how to multi-task. Hmmm. Now that got me thinking about a whole lot of other things. See what a can of worms you opened here ...

Poetry keeps my insanity sane. Food reminds me that my genealogy is full to type two diabetes. I think it is enough of a reason to favour one over the oher.

Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
