Infidelity

Infidelity

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

All too common.

"

Infidelity

My eyes fill,

watery with grief

as I relive the pain,

the ignominy,

the regret.

The complete waste

and loss of trust

and of love,

brought to us

upon silent

zephyrs of deceit.

Those ill winds

that cause our souls

to bend,

in agony,

as we contemplate

loss, rejection

and betrayal.

And try so hard

not to accept the truth

and its fatally brutal

consequences.

Hi
This strikes me as fourfold in general: the hurt, the denial, the acceptance, the lingering hurt. This is good expression; with a touch of metaphor in the middle that adds some flavor to it, but really does not overpower the theme at all. Thanks.

Thank you Matt for such a considered response.
betrayal...have gone through that enough times...and then trying to pull that someone back...made her betray even more...made her feel that she had a reason to...
odd paradox...

Odd paradox indeed Jacob. It lives with us like a shadow. Many thanks for reading.

Thank you Julie, you are very kind.

The poem speaks so completely of the wretched sense of betrayal. It always begins silently, unawares and hits one in the gut. Had one any inkling, perhaps it wouldn't happen...?

The beauty of the verse I highlighted amazed me. You are so good John.

Indeed Divya. Many of us identify with such situations and that is so sad. Many thanks.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
