A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

When life is unattainable

I incinerate inside

as the heat is turned up

and anticipation grows

like a tropical storm.

In my gut,

burnt paper,

curling and browning at the edges.

There is such longing in there

where virgin vellum

once lay awaiting ink.

Now the pages seem so brittle

that they might

simply turn to dust

and be blown away on

an errant breeze.

There is seduction in that frailty,

a sensuality that sometimes

leaves me breathless.

I reach for salvation

but the sighs of satisfaction

and the sleep just after

perpetually elude me.

You put across the feelings very well, when something in life is unattainable. It certainly does burn away at you! Hopefully yu will find that 'salvation' and the satisfaction and sleep just after! Good write.

Thank you 'AA' tis but poetic licence.
Sad when life seems over with so much left unaccomplished. Potential unused, only the surface scratched, passion still smouldering beneath brittle, yellowing pages...
The words, the metaphors, the thoughts are all brilliant.

Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
