Radical Surgery

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

When love is a lie!

Radical Surgery

I must carve you

from my breast.

The degree of dissection

is equal to the sum

of the parts

of all the slights

and cutting remarks

you made.

The deep wounds

in my heart

by the penetration of

that blade of hate

in your eyes.

So my soul

fights for breath

amidst the hurricane winds

of your acerbic animosity,

and I struggle

to reach safe harbour,

where I may

in your run

on my now empty bank,

as I fight

for long-term recovery,

after suffering

such hurt, and

your truly fake

The second 'surgical' themed poem I've reviewed this morning and it's only gone 12:45. Who said the NHS was low on funds!??"
Great metaphors - loved the banking metaphor - 'run on my now empty bank' - very well done John.

Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
