Prayer for the Fallen

Prayer for the Fallen

A Poem by Dara
"

dedicated to those adults who were victims of child abuse

"

Hiding hurt behind a silent wall

bruised and scarred your innocence shattered,

rage burning deep within your soul

from blows by others who too, were battered.

Like a wheel spinning out of control

driven by anger and fraught with malice,

the pain runs as deep as an ocean pool

the abuse running wild, rampant and endless.

Retreating into a fantasy world

the bruises now invisible to the naked eye,

to block out screams that once were hurled

deflecting them quietly as in your sleep you cry.

Wrapped up in a threadbare blanket of numbness

to stave off the demons that haunt your dreams,

you pray for peace, love, and forgiveness

and a life that is better than it seems.

I can't imagine the type of person that would abuse a child and the memories the abused live with every day. Such a heart-wrenching subject. You have touched my heart with your compassionate words. :) Julie

:( far too many ...the empathy and understanding in 'Prayer for the Fallen" is strong and well stated says i! it seems those abused and those not brush up against my life in equal numbers ...how can that be, i wonder...it is so very sad a commentary on humanity ...with some cultures and governments condoning and supporting the ignorance .. thank you Dara; for bringing my own prayers to bare against violence this morning .. love and joy my friend

So many lives are complicated, bruised and battered because of child abuse. It makes you wonder if there will ever be a way out for those victim to the brutality of it. I hope so. And I hope the day is soon! Such a touching pen on this one, Dara!
