Simply, You

Simply, You

A Poem by Sophie B.

Fitting in is impossible
Belonging is overrated
No matter how hard you try it will never work
Never to be truly mashed into the simplified piece of flesh
A shell of yourself meant to blend into the masses,
As they subconsciously wish to be whole

Finding yourself,
Whispers whispered in your ear
Promising relief from the foul fear
Drifting around,
True self fights the fraud which befell you
Crave to emerge from the darkness to explore the world
Thirsts to soak up the sunshine
Longs inquire, love, welcome the extraordinary of you
Aches to shine, stand out
To rise above the pressure of society
Defeat the social standards
Mostly, it simply wants to be you
Not simplified you
Simply, you
