Spirit of the Bay

Spirit of the Bay

A Poem by Sophie B.
"

For my great-uncle, a proud Korean War veteran and navy man, and one of the greatest people to walk this earth. Taken from this earth on May 17th, 2017.

"
Salty wind sweeping by
Stars and stripes flash before my eyes
 A siren luring her prey
To face eternity in the deep depths of the bay
Blue water, demanding to be seen
Cattails swinging in the breeze
 Dancing some long forgotten dance
 Ushering you in
Calling you to come in
White little boat tied to the dock
Craving to be used
The white has faded into light brown
A home of algae it has become It cries for the fallen
Longs for its owner
Yet it would never come to be
Because you are no longer here
And I take the old boat out all alone
