Gathering Violets

Gathering Violets

A Poem by Patricia Wedel
"

A path of memories guides my life as the weather changes from sunny to thunder clouds and hidden doubts...

"
On a calm and sunny day with basket in hand
I walk on a garden path of uncertainty
Violets smile and calm my fears...

The chirping of birds in a cherry tree
sing lovely songs of beauty and love
Violets smile and wipe my tears...

Neighbors walk by my house and wave
as butterflies sip nectar from hibiscus
Violets smile and peace remains...

Violet reminds me of the lavenders, so calm, peace and the beauty itself dwelling in front of the eyes.
Soothing they are by nature.
Fluttering butterflies, oh! my this is really synod of the mind. I'm flattered Patricia your words just melts me into calm and still clear water. Thank you.

As always, a delicately expressed poem, full of simple beauty and lovely images.

Sometimes just a simple walk and a glance into natures florist can put a smile on the face and a swell in the heart.

A simple poem, lovingly written and nicely executed.

Had to stop and read this. My mother use to take us to Henry Ford's woods and she would dig up old wild violets for her flower gardens. Mom loved violets. Valentine

it isn't quite spring here in MI. It should be but the snow is still threatening. This reminded me though of the wild violets that grew in the summers in Arkansas. The cool shade. The peace. it is a gentle poem. Well penned.

I love your simple imagery brought to life with honest feelings that waver between uncertainty & reassurance. I also feel soothed by nature in similar ways. Your descriptions are clear, specific, & fresh. I'm feeling & seeing this little walk down the uncertain path of life.

There's something so enduring about violets. Their petals form heart.shapes that remind one of just that, a heart that smiles and comforts. Your poem does the same, each stanza presenting a scene in a beautiful play. I feel calm now, Patricia.. truly calm.
