An enchanting haven Lismore Castle

An enchanting haven Lismore Castle

A Poem by Patricia Wedel
"

fragrant meadows and magnolia blossoms ...

"
Under ancient arches I search for you
surrounded by creamy-white magnolias with
turrets and towers and the county of Tipperary
in the distance with soft lights and gentle rain...

In the dusky setting of the lower garden
created in the nineteenth century for the
sixth Duke of Devonshire...
contemporary structure of statues
whisper romantic overtures of secret
rendezvous...

The haunting sounds of ghostly beings
invade my passion for love everlasting...
As I wander through the orchards
rubbing shoulders with fertile plantings ...

A sky of amber golden shades of days end
wrap around my dreams of discovery...
where hearts entwine forevermore... Amen

' The haunting sounds of ghostly beings

I find that incredibly visible and viable.. tis as if being offered a future, a marriage between need and favour.

You use words so subtly but with a turn of a word here or there, created true poetry. Beautiful!.

This lovely poem is like a gentle, lyrical dream...a garden of mist and whispers. The old and the new...Beautiful form, flow, imagery. Great historical references. I can smell the "creamy- white magnolias" and behold "the county of Tipperary in the distance". Well-penned!

It sounds lovely to have discovered this place. It sounds idyllic, and I like the way your 'search' ends in 'amen' (for ever and ever) Idyllic

Nicely lyrical descriptions of lands I don't know but feel as if I've visited now! *smile* Good word choices for sound & alliteration, as well as gracefully suggesting both the natural surroundings & the edifice itself! (((HUGS)))
