Sympathetic (sorry-for-myself)

Sympathetic (sorry-for-myself)

A Poem by PatrickPink
"

Currently, I'm dealing with a broken ankle and shattered bones in my foot. Just some thoughts I've had since.

"
I can sympathise with
Tortoises
It's tough lying on your back
Legs flailing for balance
Helpless
Although admittedly
Tortoises don't have shoelaces
That's a battle they've never had to fight

I can sympathise with
Sloths
It's rough clinging for survival
Taking an age to arrive
At your destination
Having to consider
Every
Thing
Each muscle must be planned
If you're going to stay up
Admittedly though
At least algae doesn't grow on me
Even I'm too fast for that

I've gained a lot of sympathy
(Tinged with feeling sorry for myself)
Hobbling from room to room

But the most sympathy I gained
Was for my grandmother
Who dealt with these problems
Stoic and unrelenting
As far back as my struggling brain can
Remember.
And whilst animals are great and all
(And they are)
They don't make great role models.
But she does.
She does.

Ahhh! how majestically sweet! Another flowing and wonderfully described free verse. So just how did you break your ankle?

Honest though I see. Many of us have been there and may well be again. Hope you are recovering well.
