Not being considered cute: A sentence to be tortured.

A Story by Patrick Simmons

(ALL following surveys are done under the condition that the fishing men/women all fully agree that fish do feel pain in as many ways as we do) (ALL the information/stats below is backed up by reputable surveys and research).

FATE OF SMALL-MEDIUM FISH CAUGHT BY HUMANS:

A popular mackerel fisherman, from Monterey bay, once shared a popular sentiment; There's no kill Mackerel and Herring immediately because there's an abundant amount of them. Even though most of those fisherman now agree with the majority of reputable marine biology centres (including the University of Cambridge), that fish do feel pain in as many ways as we do, people just don't care because they're not generally considered cute (by us humans). That's why these fish (all of the fish below are still alive) are left to suffocate without a care for their anguish.

National dutch studies (among many) show that mackerel can easily survive for more than an hour, after being caught. They may not be moving for all that time, but they are alive, aware and conscious for more than an hour.

A survey, of 250 fishing men, say 93.7% of them let mackerel suffocate

The odds of a non-excruciating death are not positive for these lil' guys.

Meanwhile, 90.1% of women do the same thing

These mackerel are ALL still conscious, and are in unthinkable pain, as their fates have been decided by the female's general consensus.

FATE OF SMALL-MEDIUM FISH WHEN ANOTHER ANIMAL (THAT HUMANS FIND CUTER) HAPPENS TO COME ALONG:

When seals are being hunted by orcas, they're known to jump onto boats and people are welcoming to them 98.6% of the time. That's why humans are seen as a safe haven for anything cute.

However, when seals come on to their boat and WOMEN have live small fish with them (e.g. herring, mackerel, sardines), 95.9% of them (if given an option of killing the fish first, or not killing it) would give the live fish to the seal to be eaten alive, and not kill it first AND THUS SHOWING BARELY ANY MERCY. Most of them overwhelmingly say they wouldn't care about the fish's incredibly painful death.

ALL of the above women decided that, because seals are cuter, the mackerel must die an excruciatingly painful death of being crushed alive for more than half a minute, instead of a quick one.

Men have much more mercy on the poor little fishies, but 83.8% would feed the seal the still alive fish.

These small fish will suffer a terrible fait, even though killing them swiftly is so easy for the men.

Even when the seals go away, humans are STILL absolutely intent on giving it a LIVE fish.

THESE LIL' FISHIES ARE IN FOR A FUN DAY, HUH?

I do sympathize with the mackerel and herrings. However the world is under carnage. Human beings massacre fellow humans without remorse. Consider the war ; People were incinerated alive at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Millions perished at Afghanistan , Iraq , Libya....etc. They endured physical and emotional pain just like these fishes. This article helped to shed light on the pain that animals feel. If the humans are numb to each other's pain , how would they care about animals? The only way to show compassion to these animals is by refraining from consuming meat , poultry....etc.

Well I think we can eat fish and meat, but just kill them in ethical and quick ways

However , I feel vegetarian diet would do better to eliminate the suffering.
