Apathy in 2008

Apathy in 2008

A Poem by Chloe..Across the Universe
"

for we the people

"

Are you choking on words
holding them in
these words that you
 need
should
spit out

is anyone listening
(no ones listening)

The new year is dawning
2008 should be our's
we set here mumb
hate to say it
 makes us look slightly
dumb

Letting the goverenment dictate our lives
sending more and more soldiers to die
for a war based on lies, revenge
 oil, the almighty

Is anyone listening
(no ones listening)

They think of us as a number
face without a name
we are nothing to them
I will say this over
 again
 again
again

Is your brother dying from cancer
your sister from aids
I bet they have the cure
money, the almighty
spoonfed lies to keep us
half satisfied
as if we are brainless

Bob Dylan sang to us of times a changin'
answers blowin' in the wind
John and Yoko said give peace a chance
young people rallied and stood up for their rights
four died in Ohio
because
they
 stood up
to the
governement
shot them down
fell to their death on a college campus

Here we sit
staring at a screen
thinking of ratings
and dating
and whose number one

while

The soldiers are dying
on foreign soil they lie
we set here
like we are
deaf
dumb
blind

Is anyone listening
(no ones listening)

Now is the time
to say we've had enough
cough those words in their faces
spit them out
while they lie thinking
they leave no traces

Is anyone listening
(no ones listening)

Look at your children
what they will inheirit
a world of empty faces
nothing but a number
457-89-6666

A sea of water
from east to west
hurricanes
blizzards
droughts
really hate to speak of more

Is anyone listening

This is our life
their lives
right in front of us

Let us make it better
how can we leave our babies
in a world where no one matters

Now is the time
those words
spit them out
in their faces
no matter your color
creed
 races

Let them know we
are not ignorant
anarchy
it might be
the
only
answer

Un-American?
Not I !

For We Are The People
2008 is our's
turn that
mute button
to
off

Tired of politics as usual!
Now we have Obama Hussein Barraka and Hillary Rodham Clinton playing the he said she said game.. if these people are so passionate about America and wanting to be President .. why do other people write their speeches in most cases???
As for McCain .. i don't know .. Ron Paul and Mike Huckabee looking on the sidelines ..
Politics as usual..

Is this poem.. written in pain.. disgust.. helplessness.. mood to fight it out.... many more.. such..

nothing wrong with the world at all.. everything is perfectly created..

i remember.. my ancestors.. saying.. ohhh... in our good old days.. life.. was...
see whats happened now..

believe me.. this statement will be repeated.. again n again.. generation of after generation..

but life will continue.. like a stream never ending.. taking in more more n more souls along the way..
and dumping out souls .. tired ones..

the poem is great.. stirs.. many thoughts..
bravo..
have a great new year chole..

Something blows, and it ain't Bob Dylan!

Don't forget a microchip in your arm so that big brother always knows where you are but still can't figure out all the murders except for the ones that allegedly were not done by the CIA. :)

Great write!

impressive how you express your own feelings and mix them perfectly with facts and sober lines, becoming neither too emotinal nor too based on information only. i also like the uneven structure of your poem, it feels like being shaken awake; very real, very down to earth.
thx a lot for sharing. -a-

This is great Chloe, it isn't scramble to me, it's the same type of freeflow mentioned earlier. It makes perfect sense to me and many others as well, evident by all the reviews. lol This is a very powerful message, I agree with you! I'm glad you wrote it and glad I read it. :+)

You know, all of my life I have been politically ignorant on purpose. I never read the newspapers or watched the news, and couldn't give a damn which idiot of two got picked for prez. But, my mans teenage son (who is not old enough to vote) has me all riled up about the state of our Nation. Opened my eyes to processes already in place which will eventually lead to the end of America and it's constitution. I bought a megaphone, thought it would be therapeutic for my road rage, but I think I may join a political party and start spreading truths to combat the lies from that megaphone. At this point in time, I think it is do or die. This is an excellent piece, scrambled or over easy. ; ) Love it.

(((Applause))) Really, I used to find myself saying how the world was "...going to hell in a hand basket." but lately I feel as if we are already there! This is a great message-style poem and from your lips (or fingertips on a keyboard?) to God's ears! I hope 2008 is better than the years before; I shudder to think that it could get any worse...

THis is so sad, I have read, Mr. Bush got another etat for this war...I ask myself in which WW is Mr. Bush now? WW3 or 4 ? So sad, so many traumatized coming back, no one is writing about it. You did such a powerful poem about this world of lies and deceit and power. A right poem to start 2008. That's why I sympathise with something like anarchism. I say it quietly.
