Iowa

Iowa

A Poem by Chloe..Across the Universe
"

in view of the recent floods here in the USA and all across the world, blessings and peace to all affected

"

The rain fell gently
the town breathed a sigh of
relief-
from the hot summer sun
that beat down upon the sleepy
town in the middle of America

The rain fell relentlessly
the town inhaled -
a ragged breath
as building after building
home after home
was a - washed with rain
and muddy river waters

People were swept away
no escape
homes, cars, trucks
bicycles, tricycles
little toy boats
the water took

The corn will not pop,
Orville-
it is water logged
Iowa is a river of sadness
thoughts and prayers
wishes and wonders of-

what sleepy town is next
to you I send

May the itsy-bitsy spider climb
up the spout again

Author's Note

Chloe..Across the Universe
With all the flooding here the tsunami the earthquake just thought of this..I wrote this when the flooding plagued Iowa a couple of years ago..
flooding and tornado damage came this year in my home state- lives were lost- homes and businesses and FEMA isn't helping! (didn't help much here when this was written)
Thanks FEMA and Obama....You can do it , yes you can but you won't... Illinois we are not ... sorry, upset about this!

I understand why you're upset. It's terrible, what weather can do...and whose fault is it? So many arguments about that one...
This definitely makes readers, or at least me, open my eyes and realize how serious things get...I was just watching Twister yesterday, and this has a similar message I think...
Very nice. I love your works :)

P.S...might I ask (since you don't accept read requests) if you could take a look at the book I'm writing? heh...It would be much appreciated, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

With your poetic expressions and your heartfelt note, you have awakened such emotional gates... that sense that every individual is as beautiful and vital as the next, though governments seem to only see the what they wish.. to ignore what they see as insignificant. So powerfully moving and sadly true..

You have penned the devastation well that is inflicted upon we humans. So hard to understand unless you have lived through this. Well done!

Our government is quick to issue stimulus checks that they know we will instantly go out and buy goods and services with so they get something out of it, but like most businesses if it is something that will just cost money and help people then we are told there are not enough resources. On one hand people say they don't want big government then on the other hand we need government to step in and help when needed. It is a no win situation for us the people. Your heart is always beautiful

Furiously the rain falls and those caught within it's waves are left with...nothing...you bring forth not only your thoughts but also the inability of the government to respond...nice work Chloe

Well said.
It is hard to swallow really, when we see the devastation from Tsunami and from the lackluster, puppets like Obami. (it rhymes, what can I say?)
But let's not forget what Govt really is, so we can blame the right entities, and more importantly,
when it comes to Geology,...well...
we cannot even compete in that game.
Humans are Granjeros de Maiz and nothing more.
Ok, nuff about that interesting and provocative piece.

Sad tale of neglect after disaster - trouble is, these things make the news then get forgotten when the next news comes...
