Stop Shaking

Stop Shaking

A Poem by Chloe..Across the Universe
"

In memory of all who lost their lives a year ago in a horror called a tsunami in Japan ... Please don't forget... still much healing needed there. Thank you.

"
Mother why are you shaking
Have we frightened you
Did we dig too deep-hurt you
Take your resources for granted

Are you angry
Afraid
Sick
Have you given up on us

You hold us in your bosom
I know we forget many times
That you have all the power
That you can do much harm

We forget until the next time
When you show us
As you belched shaking Japan
To the core
Swallowing her people

They are buried alive
Dead -dying
Crying tears looking
Searching for kin , friends

Catastrophic- radiation
Food and water-shortage
Electricity - without
Bleeding inside out

If I hold your hand will you
Please, stop shaking
Could you
Would you please
Hold my hand
Believe me never again
Will I take you for granted

Please take hold of my hand
Stop shaking

Author's Note

Chloe..Across the Universe
had to write something about this it is on my mind
my thoughts are in Japan my eyes cry as i watch the people
the children being tested for radiation contamination
worried people looking for loved ones
hanging on for dear life
Still for the most they stand , stoic and brave it seems
is this the beginning of more terror for Japan and the world?

Sometimes when you mess with mother nature there are extreme consequences to those actions. The destruction that can be cause by nature alone is huge and detrimental many times to those who are affected by its power. So much happened over there and ruined and changed so many lives. Makes you think differently about having nuclear power plants doesn't ?

I love this... My heart does wrench and scolds the thought that most have forgoten that was this month a year ago... and your words are so true and honest and heart felt. If there were a position I would nominate you for ambassador between humans and Mother Earth. there are times I cry for my mother... or should I say mothers. They deserve so much more than I could ever provide. and all they ask is for me to live in harmony...

Much Love to you Chloe for writing this. :*(

How I agree with every word, the plight of those in Japan - and in other similar past tragic events, should open Mankind's eyes. But, does it? People put their hands in pockets, drop coins in a tin but, only too soon, they go on with their lives, and forget. And all the while, people are suffering from the mighty onslaught of Nature's power. In the past decade too many terrible natural disasters have occured - we should think and think very carefully.

There are so many of us, there's only one Earth.

very nicely portrayed in this marvelous piece, if you think we're paying now...wait till we get what the Mayans promised in December! excellent poem, Chloe! i love the subject of man abusing mother earth. we really don't deserve this beautiful planet. reminds me of a guy slapping his girlfriend around...you know, if you kick a dog enough times it will bite!!!

"We forget until the next time" pretty much sums up every time a disaster strikes. The levies in the south could have been properly reinforced, and the Japanese could have constructed safer nuclear plants. Lives are expendable to all governments, money is the only thing they care about. Great poem.

to lend your heart to the world in commiseration is truly a righteous place to stand, though painful and debilitating ....... by soothing mother earth, it seems to likewise assuage and reassure the heart ...

it is only natural to question why such catastrophes occur. and to assign a persona to the perpetrator perhaps gives us the illusion of achieving a measure of protection. [when i lived in OK, i used to dream tornadoes had a brain and knew where to find me and my kids. yikes!]

thought provoking and heartfelt piece, chloe.
