Winter Spring

Winter Spring

A Poem by Chloe..Across the Universe

She's a little bit older
A lot wiser
Still the boys whistle
When she sashays by

He's a little bit younger
A  bit naive
She captivates
When she smiles

He sing's "Maggie May"
When they wake
She smiles through tears

A Winter-Spring relationship
Can never last
She will get old
He will get wise

She sings "Time After Time"
When she tells him goodbye

Author's Note

Chloe..Across the Universe
not much - just heard someone talking about 'Cougars".. and thinking how it is so accepted for older men to have a younger woman but many women involved with younger men are looked down upon .. just not much here... my mind is not on poetry at this time

well observed poetic interpretation~ society is the one that divides everything into such tiny compartments that we can't even differentiate our own thoughts from what is fed us through mediaexploitation~
I can tell you from a personal perspective that the whole cougar ideal has been a pain in my a@@~ nothing like getting hit on by boys younger than my daghters *just wrong~gag*

I just love this one, you are so right Chloe, sadly it has always been that way, there are a few brave ladies who dare, good luck to all cougers, what's good for the goose, is also good for the gander, hugs Monbeam.

I really liked this one. Most guys who are into older women are like that because their mental maturity level is way ahead of their physical one. Some of us, the ones who grow up too fast and don't know what a childhood is, are like this. This was a beautiful poem.

Haha cougars...I love how you've put references to songs in this piece, they really capture the point! This is a great write!

The referances to the songs make the poem very effective.. a lot of truths in this poem..I hope both had a good time while it lasted.:-)

Society so often judges us and tries to push us into a certain set of gender based rules...your words catch a bit of truth about humanity and how culture effects us. I like the song references, adds another level of meaning to your poem.

He sings maggie May
when they wake.
She smiles through the tears.
A Winter

spring relationship
can never last
she will get old
He will get wise.

Keeps the four line stanza. Nice use of the song references
