What Would You Do.

What Would You Do.

A Poem by Paul Bell

Big fat guy sucking a ciggie

Pushing a pram

Will he be around for his next birthday

Does he give a damn

Young kid wearing a suicide vest

Full of hate

What's his fate

Sees his mother as he pushes the button

Is it too late

Young girl in the clinic

Time not right

Life to lead

Her body

You have to concede

The Soldier on the screen

Sees the target

Surrounded by children

Is it a moral dilemma

The few for the many

Is it his duty

Does he walk away

They all walk down the same street

Don’t meet

But united in the universe of time

Life will go on

It always will

Actions have consequences

What would you do.

You've selected some of the hardest decisions people can make & set them up with simplicity so the reader can take it from there. You don't even need to ask "what would you do" as each stanza has this question silently begging the reader. Still, it's a good wrap-up question to pull your list of examples together into a thought-provoking read. Well crafted!

Yeah it is a tough one. That's why i left it to better people than me.
Sometimes being human is just all too painful. Cheers for the small moments that make us forget that.

You may well be right Kathie.
Boy, you sure ask the hardest questions!I'd probably cry for these people, my empathy leads me there first.they are oblivious to the nature of their choices...or that there is even a choice. I've learned that at most of these times the pain is so real and intense that they no longer feel human or feel too human an choice inst even in the scope of comprehension. This is a multi step adventure that takes levels of review!shoulda stopped in on mental monday...tears is all I got today
