The Ghost Train.

The Ghost Train.

A Poem by Paul Bell

You’ve got to get in from the start

Girl, love, mortgage, house

The trip has begun

Seat belt on

Forget the plan

The roller coaster will take you up

But not for long

Life's like that

Tells you in the song

Ok, we’re heading down

Is that a frown

Look around

Girl's gone

Love

Off with Joe

House

You don’t want to know

No mortgage though

Now, was that a thrill

All the fun of the fair

What, bitter pill

She isn't there

That’s the roller coaster

High and low

No one knows

New woman

Don’t try to explain

Seat belt on

Let me introduce the ghost train.

The emotions flowing through my head when I'm reading this poem, it is like I am not on Earth anymore, the words you use to describe the poem, I like it. 'The Ghost Train'. Sounds spooky, but the poem is actually quite different from what the poem. That's not a bad thing, but a little misleading. 'Ghost'. This is like talking about life, rather than after life. Can you explain? Hang on, let me read the poem again, I've just quickly scanned through the poem. Okay, I see what you mean with 'ghost'. Sorry, the words just came in one ear and out of the other. Good poem, 100/100. Have a nice day.

Wow- you really put it down here Paul. Brilliant, stark, poignant. Percussive rhythm, great form, flow, metaphor, rhyme, drama...cynical, but raw and real rollercoaster ride to hell...”Let me introduce the ghost train”- “Life’s like that.” , the poet said. All aboard!......

Don't think that lad ever recovered.
That’s brilliant. Really enjoyed it, Paul. Quite good stuff. The way you make it rhyme makes the poetry quite a treat to read. If this is the least you can do, I’m really impressed, Paul.

Since my life has been unconventional, it's educational for me when I read about the way other people's roller coasters go -- the more common dreams & disappointments. But in the end, despite different details, we all know that unmistakable experience of riding the Ghost Train! *sigh!* Fondly, Margie

Always think you should start on the ghost train.
Then everything else would be a dawdle.
Your style of writing is like the ride itself, Ótimo! ( excellent)
The Ghost Train, does't it ever leave the station now? jut gives off blue smoke and saddens your mood?

Life in all its bittersweet irony.....it truly is like a rollercoaster, so plentiful are the highs and lows.

The flow of the poem, short and crisp, up and down, suits the exploration of the rollercoaster idea of life's journey. And just like the real thing, it all depends how much we can stomach before we need to get off for more stable ground.

A briskly flowing write with a very relatable metaphor, Paul. Nicely conceived.

Makes you want to stay in the house. lol
Love it, Paul. A bitter pill, indeed. And we have all been there! Screaming through the dark, then going round again. Are we all mad, or what?

You don't pay to go on the ghost train. Well, not to begin with. lol
Paul - love the poem.. :) life is something like this... just does not give us breathing time.. sometimes the speed of the roller coaster also matters :P
