New Beginnings

New Beginnings

A Poem by Paul Bell

She cut the ties
The good
The bad
The menopause
Finally, the long pause
Followed by the loneliness
Days became weeks, became months
It was time
Life begins at forty
Did it end at forty six
Swanky bar
Lights, music, fear
She felt that drowning sensation
Maybe to early
She felt eyes upon her
Smiling, teasing, no words
Her guard was up
It’s impolite to stare
Sorry, I was undressing you
Never in her life
Reality hit home, indignant
And tell me, how far did you get
All the way down to your inhibitions
Twenty three years worth she thought
The ice was broken
Tom was the first
John wouldn't be the last.

Mostly we wait too long; it's that cling to hope mentality that our species are imbued with; and of course the fear of the unknown.

Yeah, the first step is always the toughest.
This is one of your best “rolling conversations” . . . sometimes I get a little bogged down here & there . . . but this time I felt your back-and-forth proceeding at lightning speed thru-out! You throw out some subtleties that aren’t fully fleshed out in conversation, but with a fully-connected read-thru, it’s easy to follow the unspoken hop-skip-jump that gets us from point a to point d. Perfectly gradual ending seduction scene done in barely-there charcoal sketches (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Think the woman finally found herself, and her new men.
For the New beginnings she waited too long.
I suppose there is time and place for new things in life.... only after you cut ties with the old(?).

Yes, out with the old, in with the new.
moving on is a difficult one to trek but then time heal all wounds

Time does heal the scars
It must be quite daunting finding yourself back in the market place after years of being in a relationship. Not knowing what to expect, not knowing how to behave, treading carefully, finding your feet and bingo you've arrived, probably a whole lot wiser than the first time you did this. I enjoyed this, found it to be a realistic write.

Yeah, I think this woman is in command of her destiny now.
this is an excellent journey into those later life fantasies and realities...and how both can coincide at times...but sometimes, as we age we get younger also...or at least relive our youth...just with different perspective.

Yes, reliving those years takes us back to the good times.
Would John know who tom was... or were they just a memory in the haze... :p

As the clock ticks ..do you think we feel like our timing is running away... the need to live...seems to take over...somehow...anyways we are going to die one day or the other... :)

Time is sure running out. Maybe that's why people take the leap.

Leap of faith... hehe or get the hell out and run away... both cases...
