I am assuming that you meant a life support machine; also, I imagine that this dance--the last dance--is figurative. I wrote something that this reminds me of. It was about kicking the drug habit (the word 'kicking' is apt). My poem was called 'MATTRESS DANCING".

so much sadness when the machine is turned off and the soul is allowed to leave a body that has shuffled off its mortal coil.

it is the last dance...and those who are closest...just stand on the sidelines and watch, and pray, and try to give her a last smile.

If you are ready to go, have made that decision yourself, then it would be a blessing. Some people have to endure so much suffering at the end of their lives. I would imagine the dancing to be mental rather than physical.

Couldn't agree with you more. Have had two cats euthanized when they were clearly suffering from what would kill them anyway, and yet with family members, you watch and live every bit of agony and pleading with them, helpless :(
