The Black Widow.

The Black Widow.

A Poem by Paul Bell

The voice in her head

It said that he was dead

The image in her mind

So scared what she would find

The truth in her heart

She knew from the start

At some point she would kill him.

Very nice twist at the end. I thought of it as an abused widow killing her deceased husband to save herself. c: I liked the lines.

Why I hate the Tax man.
That's the sum and substance of a relationship ( nature of the beast) that serves only the heedless. You packed tragedy, terror and sorrow as well in a short, superb poem, Paul.

Glad I never met her.
i see this from a figurative standpoint...the woman is so filled with pain from the past that she destroys hearts now rather than be destroyed herself...
she doesn't want to do it...but she knows she will...she has conscience.
