Empty Street

Empty Street

A Poem by Paul williams

Eyes wide open,
My heart beats loudly through the silent sheet.
A sober rush,
That lets my blood pump
To the place it needs to reach.
Every memory that exists in this busy mind of mine,
Finds its way to make an appearance,
No perseverance can rewind.
Endurance over applause,
Is a probable cause,
Making my emotions fail to pause,
Spilling my opinion on the floor.
My heart it skips a beat,
My mind finds empty street,
Hopes lean on failures spell,
Soon to dampen where they dwell.

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
I love the deep thought this piece inspires. There's a grave nature about it and an artistic type aura surrounding. The rhyme seemed a bit inconsistent, but I did enjoy the read. Very well penned.
