That one little stepA Poem by PavithraWhen I was all you had, your only friend, your true soul mate, your faithful lover… My darling, was that only because there was none else to fill your every empty hour? For nothing more than a single bewitching glimpse of that enchanting smile… Held you close and walked you home in the pouring rain, colder and wetter with each mile… Enticed by that exquisite face and tempting teasing curves that body into unbreakable invisible chains, The carcass of a wrecked life, a silent testament to the innumerable follies is all that remains… Not allowing a single drop from your eyes trickle down your cheek Your solace and succor in your hazy storm grey and bleak… As world around me crumbled, like a stranger unknown, you just stood and stared… A dark putrid indistinguishable mass of repulsive soul those lifeless eyes bared… Had I fallen too low for you to bestow upon me that mesmerizing smile, my lady? Or was it just that you had become too busy to spare even a second to say ‘hi’ to me? Does it require such a colossal effort to reply, to the man who breathed life into your drab existence? Was it easy to walk away from the fountainhead of the color into the lack-luster sea of subsistence? I cannot help but wonder why you couldn’t walk that one little step for me… Tell me my love, why? , When the miles I have walked for you are before you to see… © 2011 Pavithra
