August Twenty-Fifth

August Twenty-Fifth

A Poem by Paza

Against my better judgment,
Urged ahead by loved ones,
Getting away with murder, but
Unable to live with its aftermath.
Sorrow as deep as the sea
Took over my heart.

Teenaged stupidity, I tell myself while
Weeping for what was lost.
Every summer the memory,
Never to be forgotten,
Traces its path along my cheek.
Years – twenty-nine without holding you.

Feeling anguish, still so deep
It pierces my soul.
Fighting for forgiveness
Through every anniversary.
Healing – when does it finally begin?

its doesn't, not really...

such sadness laced with regrets.
nicely written paza & emotional.
can feel the pain as one reads the words.

i understand where you are coming from;
in more ways then just one.

Well Done :)

Yes, very clever acrostic. It obviously has significant meaning to you but I couldn't guess exactly what. Perhaps I'm not looking hard enough.
Good work

One of the best acrostics I've read in awhile. Good work, good poet!

I usually don't care for this style but u don't dress it up all cutesy, instead creating a raw, touching, and ultimately very powerful work. great use of style and flow and some memorable lines.
very well done!
