Damaged BreathesA Poem by SLW
Today the doctor taps staccato
on his back again, listens to the rhythmic undulations of his hollow chest, depleted lungs in a malformed ribcage. One he won't let cage our dreams. He coughs, breathless, wide-eyed, wondrous as hope now he's got permission to practice sport: a signature. He exhales with a breath that voices my dreams. © 2012 SLWReviews
