Love's Treasure Keep

Love's Treasure Keep

A Poem by Sharon Miller Bolander
"

Challenge poem written for Albert's Cafe Dream Challenge using the phrase "in your light I learn how to love." I split the phrase over the first two lines.

Love's Treasure Keep

Do you know that in your light I learn?

How to love was once a game.
Played for keeps,
it's not the same;
give and take,
each in return,
form the fire our passions burn.

Can you feel those flames within my touch?

Once I took more than I gave---
Never planned to be love's slave.
That's before you came my way
sharing love's own sweet bouquet.

Shall I tell how trust has grown with time?

Then, I questioned everything.
Was love real
Or just a fling?
Hug and kiss,
a pantomime
taken from some nurs'ry rhyme?

Shall I say love's aged us gracefully?

Well, it has and you'd agree
love is like the rolling sea
filled with wonders in its keep,
treasures loving hearts hold deep.

Poetess you have done it again! Superb poetry, just a joy to read this outstanding piece.

I especially liked this stanza:

Once I took more than I gave---
Never planned to be love's slave.
That's before you came my way
sharing love's own sweet bouquet.

Bravo and thank you for helping to keep the dream alive!
