A Toast to Friendship

A Toast to Friendship

A Poem by Mr. Deft Diction
"

What is a friend, anyway?

"

Me and old friends don't seem to vibe any more

and we ain't close, in terms of them not being right next door;

but, the nostaligia in me catches feelings,

well, because there were times when we leaned on each other

and swung bats like Crazy Joe.

Now cats is catchin' feelings and givin' cold shoulders.

I just try and act like I don't notice,

even though responses to calls and emails be bogus.

We ain't gotta be cool,

s**t, I ain't have my pops, n***a, I'm good.

It seems fairy tales exist in men,

and I was really Doughboy in the hood.

But, on everything,

I ain't mad atchya.

I'ma toast a glass to old times and good laughter.

To friendship, 'my n***a'

A Hunnid

This was a nice piece, and spoke truely of the friendships that seem to die away, and yet will always be with us! Great job! (:
