Lost Ardor

Lost Ardor

A Poem by Sarah F-W

Lingering whispers,
Fall flat on deaf ears.
Nobody left,
But the sound of silent fears.

Everlasting touches,
Settled on soft skin.
No longer to be caressed
By anything than what has been.

I am taken aback by the simplistic approach of telling a story in so few of words, Sarah!! That first stanza is gorgeous to me.... You take me to a funeral I had of one of the most special people in my life and not many knew it until the day of the funeral when I showed up with some peaches. lol Long story, but that story is also on here, as well. The mutual feeling of this person gone from me was both a guilty one and also one that felt angry that I was left here without her in my life anymore. I grieve an echoing silence and that is where your poem livens up such emotions once thought to be selfish, and/or personal to only me. The last stanza you have written "Beautiful!!".... lays so sweet a tone of reverence and longing that gets misplaced and distorted to some degree as time passes. Wonderful job!! Beautiful, Sarah.... xoxo -Mark

Every time I read your work, I just imagine it being spoken with an English accent and it just sounds way more appealing to the ear. Anyway, I think you're a really good writer, all of your work has a weird way of being so much more than the words before me. It's so simple and so beautiful, it's awesome. Keep writing, I wanna read more.

How true. How true. "Anything than what has been," simple words with deep meanings. It certainly makes one stop and ponder.

I agree with everything everyone else has said. Simple, to the point, well put together, and wondeful word usage here. I really enjoyed this piece and read it several times. Thank you for sharing it with us :)
