The Willing

The Willing

A Poem by Perdition

On the porch she sat, wilting her smiles and balancing on the ominous plate of words she had left so quietly behind, so well maintained, so well the many years before. I fumbled through my own awkward memories and thought hard over this coming wall, though now freed of its need. I thought, while the night grew old around us and the moon tumbled high over our last summering days into the pause. What would become of these next several hours? Who would open those temporary doors so tightly shut and well the arms arranged like darkness around the stars...who would be the first to begin, where so very few are ever willing?

I'm guessing it's not you...cause I don't hear the screaming of that guitar....maybe I don't cry for anyone these days or maybe for everyone...ive become quite clueless ....i could be sitting straight across the table...and not even know your name...who will be the first indeed..to say the things that should be said...

Thanks Queenie..always a treat to have you poetic out the reviews..who indeed?
Happy Labor Day greetings from across the very large divide...

... hopefully we'll still be around as long as a certain unnamed (fill in the blank) doesn't actually shoot off a hydrogen missile our way...

...you never know...

All the best laid plans could be gone before the next breath!

The longer I live on this earth, the more I realize...that it's really the journey that holds our treasures near, those moments frozen in time forever more...

late night calls...

laughing till dawn...

crazy ...

crazy for and about each other...

all frozen in time...that space between the gatherings..

Wishing you well.

Hugs to you Hawk. One day I'll find a way to shrink the miles and become a good Squaw
First picking up, 'On the porch she sat.. ' and then, '... so well the many years before.' I wonder if perhaps they are separated by death, by intention, or mysticism. Was one dead, the other alive; both dead but in different places? Perhaps i'm bewildering myself now, seeing things that aren't really there! There's darkness for sure.. 'darkness around the stars' - Need read again...

This is movingly beautiful. I particularly liked the lines "so well arranged like darkness around the stars". Very warm and sensitive thoughts.
