Gravity

Gravity

A Poem by Pete Langley
"

A down to earth poem

"
I watched a tiny tear of rain
                 on a spotted windowpane
                 collect the light
                 from grey to white
                 until the weight of waterload
                 made the bubbled globe explode,
                 then stream the juice
                 straight down the glass,
                 collecting fellows as it passed.

I wondered at the part of chance
                 in this unregimented dance
                 and how the only constancy
                 was top to bottom gravity.
No matter how a man or tree grows tall,
like tears of rain they all will fall.

This is very much experimental.....and probably incomplete.

I have read both of your "gravity" poems & I like both equally well. I'm not sure about how adding that verse to the second attempt changed it in the way you suggested, but it's a great addition anyway! The first verse of this is stunningly accurate observation worded in a fresh original way . . . superb writing, what we all strive for! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

What a perfect description of the journey of a little raindrop; and so cleverly rhymed.
I absolutely love this Peter, my kind of poetry through and through; and with a gentlest of lessons contained in the second stanza. Don't you dare change a word! Beccy

Hi Pete. Well there's nothing wrong with experimenting when it turns out like this!!! I thought it was a great read. And the fascinating part is that it is, in essence, about nothing!!! Love that you can do that, alf

Ohhhh ... I love this! It is very much complete. I don't know all the wordy jargon to use. I just know when I like something and I like this a lot! :)

made me chuckle ... gravity makes saggytariouses of all of us :)) what i enjoyed the most tho is your description and meditations on the droplet's course ... overload, dispersed then gathering .. really enjoy those thoughts for my day this morning ..

This is complete, I don't see what's experimental about it. I like the rhyme and meter.

A simple image that carries a weighty reminder... I like this a lot, Pete.

I`m glad I`ve looked at Pete`s work again. Like this, Pete has the ability to turn slight moments or observations into creative language, this the essence of poetry ; original perception with fine language.
