Encyclical from the Poor

Encyclical from the Poor

A Poem by Pete Langley
"

...a chain letter, maybe

"

Here, in our back of beyond.
a precious secondhand Iphone tells us so
               before the battery expires
               and now we know
               a better life exists.
               We cannot all go
but we can send the strongest
               of will and limb
               to find and buy
               a charger.

you know ...i think some poor have no realization of what it is like to be poor ... without the inspiration nor inclination to strive ... reaching out and obtaining the charger only keeps others with the same second hand phone .. i think you have captured a lot of life in your few lines ... fantastic metaphor says i! .. we can get left behind so easily in this speed of light techno-world ..as for this old bird .. i don't even try ... i have to call in my children or grandchildren for assistance with this or that computer issue .. they just give me a knowing wink and a sigh and zippity click .. problem solved .. very inspiring and thought provoking poem Peter!

Migration is not easy
Leaving all you know behind
but sometimes Your life needs it
And only the truly strong do what needs to be done
It can be painful
But that never stops one from doing it
The iPhone has to stay in full operation mode
no matter what ........

Love your style

The days of the rotary dial are as prehistoric as the dinosaur...as is the house phone, itself. Much enjoyed your analogy, Pete!

what a terrific metaphor to describe migration...
and there is a migration of sorts with technology and where it is going, and where our younger generation is going along with it...

nicely done, Pete.
