Running and Running

Running and Running

A Poem by Aventicus
"

I decided to do another T. S. Elliot style poem. In this one I explore what the burden of guilt can do to some.

"
Running and running
Forever onward and away
Away from my past
My failures
My sorrows
My grief
Running and searching
Looking for light of redemption
Redemption from the strife I caused
From lives I took
From the pain I inflicted
From the destruction I brought
Running and hoping
Hoping to be forgiven
Forgiven for my sins
For my carelessness
For my heartlessness
For my hate
Running and forgetting
Forgetting everything I've done
Everything I've seen
Everything I've heard
Everything I've lost
For now, all I have is to forget
I ran too fast
I ran past the light
Caught up in my desperation
I shoved aside forgiving hands
Guilt being my master
Fear being my weakness
The gorge swallowed me
As I tripped on the roots of my loss
I fell forgotten
And so, I did the same
And my pain washed away
And with it went my soul

Wow, very nice. Guilt can be a powerful thing. I liked it, it flowed very nice with no interruptions. A good meaningful write with a lesson.

Love the style. You captured the burden of guilt very well. I'm a t.s. elliott fan as well. It carries on really well.
