Self-delusion

We all know someone like this - certain politicians for instance ...

Self-delusion

Rubbishes the truth

Always right and never wrong

Only loves themselves

Ya know, Dear Phil?
I've always felt it's far better to have an overly healthy self-image than to be too down, kicking oneself around. But, there is a limit, and I think you've expressed it perfectly in this keenly observing Senryu.

And, what a perfectly snooty, self-absorbed picture to introduce the mood!
Thanks for the most excellent read and presentation! ⁓ Richard : )

How well you have summed up self-delusion. Yes, there are a few politicians who could wear your words very comfortably. I have also known one or two like that in the work place. No self awareness whatsoever. Well done. Image says it all.

Short and to the point, but impactful. The image definitely enhances the piece and furthers you message.

To me self-delusion can mean two things. One, self-preservation: To protect yourself whatever the cost even at the expense at others for no good reason at all aside from it being "right" for them and Two, Survival Instinct: To shield yourself from understanding the unyielding proof in the face of reality because you can't deal with it then and probably won't be able to until later.

This poem has me thinking of both sides. The latter of Survival Instinct reminding me of how people can be delusional for their own protection to those they love verses Self-Preservation who are people who delusional-ize themselves to thinking they are the only ones that matter and that the rest of the world is against them so they shouldn't care what happens to it so long as they preserve. Those who only love themselves.

Rambling aside, I like how this makes one tick. Marveling how true this can be for those who become so obsessed with protecting themselves that they no longer understand what it means to live and love and literally just exist. Well done!

This one cuts straight to the point. I have one that is similar about the same subject matter, may have to drudge it up. Nicely done!
