Deep inside a Candle’s Flame

Deep inside a Candle’s Flame

A Poem by Phill Oz O'fee
"

Sometimes inspiration presents itself ...

"

Deep inside a Candle’s Flame

With cotton curtains drawn

Across the lattice windows

Reposed into a cherished chair

I feel a comfortable hugging

From the calm idyllic silence

Of this placid private lodge

Turning off artificial lighting

I use a single scented candle

In clay holder proud and high

And set to fire its waxen wick

To bring life to this solo spire

And cast shining into tired eyes

An ambiance matures steadily

As the flame begins the grow

Thoughts disperse the psyche

Absorbed hypnotic by fiery core

And discover myself transfixed

Upon its tall honey golden glow

In the deepest central radiance

An apparition randomly appears

An exquisite translucent image

Holds scrolls of her silvery words

And I am spiritually transported

To an imaginative creative world

Awe spun and novel approbation

Mixes a new found admiration

Seizes soul to mystical inspiration

At poetess’s rousing innovation

As her flickering haunting flame

Takes me into the tallow’s heart

waxing romantic ;) lots of alliterations that roll off the tongue ... you cheated with rhyming in V5 with all the "tion"s ;) but for me it works because it quickens the pace ... and puts emphasis and an increasing energy ... then quickly and quietly I slip into the heart of the tallow ... everyone needs a quiet meditative place says i! thanks for sharing yours Phil!

Most women like soft flattering lights from candles and, of course, the atmosphere they create. You've created touches of magic here, phrases meant to influence, ' .. As the flame begins the grow - Thoughts disperse the psyche - Absorbed hypnotic by fiery core - And discover myself transfixed... '

There are few whatevers that embellish or enhance or similar than candlelight. If only Life were the same. Sweet words - and mysterious..

I like this allot - it reminds that I used to love the candle-glow-even better through half-closed eyes.
I imagined star-paths, leading to an elsewhere not of our domain.
Myth and stories were weaved and versed around the flame of hearths. Fire often the genesis of the oral tradition.

Thank you for bringing it back.

All the best to you

Very nice! I remember recently my friend told me about the Bloody Mary myth and we tried it out. Nothing really happened and my house never became haunted.

I have spent many an hour gazing into the flame of a candle. I've always found something spiritual in doing so. A beautiful poem you have created here Phill. Rich in language and imagery. Hope all is good with you.

Chris
