Disapproving Stares

Disapproving Stares

A Poem by Phill Oz O'fee
"

Be true to yourself...

"

Disapproving Stares

In my single number years

I was mischievously unaware

My adolescent antics were viewed

With disapproving stares

As teenage times took over

Experimenting what to wear

My dress sense was greeted

With disapproving stares

Career choice in my twenties

Was not celebrated in fanfare

Announcing I’m a writer meet

With disapproving stares

Now that I am more mature

And writes have shown flair

I’ve silenced all the critics

With disapproving stares

Proving just being yourself

Ignoring all critical glares

Brings you self satisfaction

So f**k the disapproving stares

I often tell inspirational writers to do just what you've done here . . . tell a story, show how a transformation happens, rather than preaching at people about how you should be this & do that. If people knew how to overcome their issues, they would do it. This is how to show the journey unfolding, show how it's done, with a fun, friendly humble self-acceptance that teaches so much more than a preachy message. This is the poster child for inspiring people by crafting your own learning curve into a well-crafted ditty with good rhyme & rhythm (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I think many of us have received their fair share of disapproving stares over the years. So be it I say. Live and let live and be yourself. Good write Phill.

Gee
"so f**k the disapproving stares"
Imagine us all the same, how boring would that be. Better be frowned upon than a sheep I think.

But the journey of discovery can be such fun
Then we become parents and the roles are reversed.

Seems everyone has disapproving stares until you hit the lottery and then everything becomes accepted and wonderful. FK disapproving stares for sure. Fist bump!
