Purgatory

Purgatory

A Poem by Phoen-ix

I wonder if God would
Be spiteful if
He found out that
I'm in love
With all things
Tainted

I wonder if the Devil
Would be displeased if
He found out that
I'm in love
With all things
Pure

This poem came and snatched me out of my bed tonight. It seems, I have found someone who understands the importance of knowing both of these realms, how else to accurately tell a tale if you have not stood on both sides of the river? Too many writer/poets (people, myself included) rush to claim the high ground, but this makes us hypocrites who refuse to be honest with ourselves, refuse to explore that other part of ourselves; no, we do plenty of that when nobody's looking. Instead the "artist" should admit to their darker nature ––– not embrace it ––– or accept it, but just admit to it.
Then, the writer is again whole, the writer has merged. Free to create without guilt, without bias.
Without /lie

Sorry about the mini rant here, Phoen-ix, but I get excited when I find another who admits,
to their purgatory.

This is splendid. Speaks to me of the epic battle between good and evil and of course your purgatory in between. A great commentary on so much of life and can be extrapolated to so many different levels. A great write. Enjoyed it for sure.

I'm actually in the process of Writer's Block...mostly it deals with whether or not the novel in my head is actually worth my time writing. Anyway, enough of me. I really, really like the idea here. It questions of Faith. We all want to go to Heaven and avoid Hell. Yet, we humans know we have sin, because we're not perfect. So would God allow us in Heaven if we have sin, and would the Devil hate us because we haven't sinned enough to please him?

and this is how it is in the hearts of humans. Well penned, thoughtful poem.

In the midst of the deep poetry, I found this to be very pretty. The way the poem is columned and the rhyme pattern is just lovely. Great job
