Freakshow

Freakshow

A Poem by Phoen-ix

Switchblade - split
the siamese twins
Together,
like cannibals, ate the pulp of the grapefruit
until gangrene
made rot of our limbs
Conjoined, and
corrosive - with
ruby red ransoms in our stomach lining
we peeled back blood thirsty sadists
and spit the seeds of self - sacrificing masochists

Well, yes....sometimes there is work to be done.

And what part of whom went into which mouth first? Was there a vote? Unanimity would be essential, n'est-ce pas? Are they male? Female? This might affect the menu. May I suggest a foreskin appetizer followed by a flank steak.
It is hard to get past the bloody details of the repast to reach a poetic or intellectual conclusion. Are we all a dichotomy, all self devouring? I recommend tongue in cheek followed by silence.

I'm getting absurdity and arcane ghoulish antics from this, and I see the picture- more or less- but I'm left wondering what on earth is going on. So much is happening at once, and the absurdity of it all seems like a cherry on top of the jumble of mumble. I don't quite get it, but there's not much to get with absurdity (and if not absurd at all, then I gotta say, the key to this labyrinth is well hidden, and this poem simply needs to be delved into a bit more to find it).....This is a freak show, after all. Well done!

the only part that threw me off is the grapefruit; otherwise i'm on board and love the show!
