Red Spider Lilies

Red Spider Lilies

A Poem by Phoenix9153
"

A poem about society as a whole

"

Drifting in a field of sapphire,

With dreams of peace and prosperity.

Bountiful in zealous desire,

The narcissus steadily wilts and withers.

An aura of gold,

Complete with charming airs

As a reputation to uphold;

To conceal the developing crack in the mirror.

The guardians, the progenitors;

Looking through the distorted lens

The educators, the society;

With suffocating evaluations.

“only 5th......”

“………how ostentati……”

 “…ad upbringing…..”

“…feel sorry………….arents…”

That breach in the mirror.

It left a scar.

An old wound.

To be later reopened for further agony.

A flash of lightning,

A crack of thunder;

The narcissus, disintegrated;

The bleached rose, shattered.

Black tears cease flowing:

Replaced by a silent scream.

They say to make your dream a reality,

But forget a nightmare is a dream.

And somewhere in a dark void,

Red spider lilies bloom.
