Long Distance Relationship

Long Distance Relationship

A Poem by Placenta

I lie here sleepless,
these summer nights
the loneliness engulfing me
empty hands pray with all their might

close my eyes, so tightly that they  burn
and try to feel you somewhere in this world
if I concentrate hard can I imagine you here...?
wrapping arms around shoulders fingertips wiping tears.

Parcels and letters shipped across seas
hoping somehow they'll bring you closer to me
I've spent hours watching your face through a screen...
I've learned all your quirks and I've studied you completely.

You've shown me where it hurts the most
your heart so broken it tears at words
Soul so pure, I can't help but cry for you
and hope that when you're here I can fix all you've been through.

Distance means nothing in matters of the heart
It doesn't matter if we're miles or worlds apart
I'll get you to me somehow in some way
It may take years, or only a few days...
I'd sail across oceans, travel the stars
For that day, you'll be safe in my arms.
