I love observing my wife as she sleeps, and this is inspired by such.

 Silence Speaks Volumes

                                                                              By Dean Kuch

I  often lie awake at night and watch you sleep,
observing the perfect curvature of your mouth,
basking in your heat as you breathe,
smiling at the funny things you utter as you dream.
    ...I wonder if you are dreaming of me?
So beautiful, so still, so quietly exquisite;
A beautiful work of stillform art in quiet pantomime.
The flawless satin skin of your chest,
I watch as it gently undulates,rising slowly,
and drifting slowly back down once again,
 only to be greeted by such a warm and tender heart.
I like the fact that you do not know I do this
You shouldn't feel uncomfortable in your slumber
I do this out of adoration and gratitude,
        for the person that you are,
        for the man you've made me to be,
        for the children we both cherish and delight in.
Tawny hues of sunbeam drift in and whispers;
golden feathers gently caressing the outines of your face.
 You bolt upright in bed and look at me.
You simply smile, always, without saying a word.
Leaning over to kiss me, your silken hair brushes
faintly against the flesh of my neck and chest.
Our lips touch and your eyes glow with anticipation,
eager to begin the day that awaits you.
Your face blushes intensely, and once again, I realize
just how truly lucky I am to have you in my life
I know that you love me.
 Standing together, we embrace tightly,while,
unspoken "I love you's" dance across your eyes.
We both watch in awe as as the sun crests the horizon.
We utter not a word; We don't have to...

            Such silence speaks volumes.

Dedicated to my wife Keresna. I love you.

Wow I love this poem! What beautiful descriptions and imagery! This poem is so sweet and on top of the beautiful writing, you dedicated it to your wife which gave it an even more genuine feel. I love it! The last line, "such silence speaks volumes" is absolutely my favorite. It's beautiful:) And the words flow really well as if this all comes naturally. Great job, I've never seen anything like it.:)

Any man who has loved has done all of what you describe. It takes a poet to remind us how good it all was.
